Cryotherapy is an advanced innovation that is fast, effective, safe and new solution for the removal of skin imperfections.  Procedures typically last from 5 to 30 seconds, so you can be in and out of the salon quickly.

How It Works

The cryopen emits a fine jet of Nitrous Oxide under high pressure, which allows for millimetre precision.  This destroys the tissue by freezing the inter-cellular fluid, forming ice shards and crystals which rupture the membrane, thereby destroying the cell.  That means there will be no collateral damage to healthy tissue.  It is extremely accurate and practical.

Cosmetic procedure such as skin tags, seborrheic keratosis and cherry angiomas are no longer being treated on the NHS.  With cryotherapy you can now have these treatments here.

Are there any side effect?

The treated area is frozen with Cryotherapy.  This kills the localised cells which causes them to shrivel and fall off.  After the treatment the area may blister and scab which is normal before falling off after 2-4 weeks.  Large lesions can take longer to fall off.  Cryotherapy is low risk as it delivers a freeze directly onto the area being treated and not the surrounding healthy tissue.

How long is a cryotherapy treatment?

The duration of the treatment will vary depending on the surface area to be treated and the thickness of the lesion.  The treatment generally lasts 2 to 30 seconds.

Is the treatment painful?

There will be a pain sensation similar to a nettle sting on the skin and a little residual sting for a few minutes after the treatment which is normal.

At your consultation a treatment plan will be discussed.  If you have a large number of skin tags or lesions more than one appointment will be needed to remove them all.    For stubborn lesions a second or third freeze may be needed.
